Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater and making it safe for reuse or to return to the environment.
How Filter Presses Are Used For Wastewater Treatment
Filter presses are used for liquid-solid separation in the wastewater treatment industry. Sludge generated during the wastewater treatment process is fed into the filter press, which contains a pack of recessed plates. When the plates are pressed together at the beginning of a filtration cycle, the recessed areas form chambers. As the sludge fills these chambers, the solids in the sludge are captured on filter cloths on the plates. The liquid passes through the filter cloths.

Filtration
Filter presses are used for liquid-solid separation in wastewater treatment applications to remove impurities and suspended solids.
Dewatering
Filter presses can be used to remove and dewater the solids in wastewater to improve solids handling and disposal.

How Thickeners Are Used For Wastewater Treatment
Thickeners are used in the wastewater industry to separate solids from liquid in a wastewater stream. The wastewater is mixed with a chemical flocculant to rapidly settle the solid particles to the bottom of the tank. The clear liquid then overflows the tank, while the concentrated solids underflow is discharged for further processing.
Diefenbach offers several thickener styles for achieving the optimum level of solids concentration for an application, as well as high recovery of clear liquid.
